Growing up in a farming area, it was not uncommon to know a farmer who raised multiple types of animals. But some would specialize in one type. Next door to my house the farmer raised pigs only. I don’t remember them smelling badly, from a distance, that is. I think today’s pig farms smell bad because they raise hundreds of pigs. Here’s to the small farmer in rural Nova Scotia. “The Pig Farmer” is 9” x 12”.
On another note, if you are in Saint Andrew’s, New Brunswick, drop by Kingsbrae Gardens and visit their newly established folk art exhibit. The grand opening is tomorrow, July 22. I have eight paintings on show there until October.
