The Horse Farm

There is certainly no prettier sight than driving by a herd of horses grazing in a field. It really doesn’t matter if it is a warm sunny day, or a rainy afternoon. The scene causes me to pause and give thanks for such beauty. I hope I have captured some of this in my latest painting, “The Horse Farm”. It is 9” x 12”.

If you are in the Lunenburg area this Sunday, drop by the Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival from 12 – 4 and view the 40 paintings I will have on display. If you have the time, stay for the auction. It is always great fun. See you there.

The Pig Farmer

Growing up in a farming area, it was not uncommon to know a farmer who raised multiple types of animals. But some would specialize in one type. Next door to my house the farmer raised pigs only. I don’t remember them smelling badly, from a distance, that is. I think today’s pig farms smell bad because they raise hundreds of pigs. Here’s to the small farmer in rural Nova Scotia. “The Pig Farmer” is 9” x 12”.

On another note, if you are in Saint Andrew’s, New Brunswick, drop by Kingsbrae Gardens and visit their newly established folk art exhibit. The grand opening is tomorrow, July 22. I have eight paintings on show there until October.

Have you been to a church picnic of late? We have a wonderful one here at the Mountain Top Cottages, and everyone, regardless of their age, joins in the fun. This painting entitled “The Picnic” depicts just such an event. It is 11” x 14”.
