Tranquility

I love to paint reflection scenes, and recently a friend posted a photo that just begged to be painted.  This painting entitled Tranquility, for obvious reasons, is 5” x 7”.  I will have it at the Annapolis Farmer’s and Trader’s Market on Saturday along with my 2013 calendars, hot off the press.  Also, my website has been updated with my latest work – www.mnewmanfolkart.com

Bear River

This painting of Bear River was completed before I went on holidays.  It is set in the early fall when the trees are just starting to turn and the water is that magnificent blue.  This image has been scanned and will appear in my 2013 calendar which will be available soon.  "Bear River" is 9" x 12" and will be on display at the Farmer's and Trader's Market in Annapolis Royal tomorrow (Saturday, May 19).  Hope to see you there.

Apple Picking Time

I really enjoy painting barns.  This painting, entitled “Apple Picking Time” is inspired by two Nova Scotia barns.  The one in the foreground is located at Sherbrook Village and the one behind is situated near Grand Pre looking across the marsh to Blomindon.  It is 8” x 24”.  If you have a photo of a barn you think would make a good painting and are willing to share, let me know.

Out for a Row

I must say the one thing I missed when on holiday was painting.  Although I did some sketches of scenes to paint for myself, and wandered through the National Gallery in London, I had to store my creative ideas until returning home.  And once I picked up the brush I have been busy ever since.  I hope you like this latest painting.  It was inspired by a couple I saw out for a row on the Mediterranean, and I think it translated nicely into a valley scene.  “Out for a Row” is 6” x 12”.

Haying

It won’t be long before we will see the tractors in the fields cutting the hay.  There is nothing quite like the smell of freshly mown hay or grass.  This painting takes one back to a time of manual labor when men cut and harvested the hay.  This painting is taken from an actual photo.  “Haying” is 5” x 10”.

This is the painting I was working on in March before leaving for Spain.  Finally, it is finished and ready for viewing.  It depicts fall here in Nova Scotia and the harvest season.  “Fall Colors” is 9” x 12”.
